Ezra Levant Freedom Weekend

February 24th - 26th, 2012 at The Beautiful JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort & Spa

FAQs

What should I wear?

This is going to be a casual weekend.  The food will be superb as will the company, but we are all there to relax and have fun.  Casual clothes during the day and business casual for the reception are more than sufficient.  The key is to dress warmly and comfortably, especially if you plan on participating in any outdoor activities.  A good pair of comfy boots (flats), a warm jacket, hat and mitts, and you should be all set!

What if I have a food allergy or restriction?

On the registration form, you will be asked if you have any dietary restrictions (eg Kosher or vegetarian) or food allergy or sensitivity (eg Gluten).  We will advise the hotel and they will meet with you when you arrive to discuss alternative food arrangements.  The chefs at the resort are well accustomed to accommodating various food-related requests so please don't let any concerns around food prevent you from having a fantastic time.

Should I bring my kids?

While the official agenda for Freedom Weekend will be geared heavily towards discussions around current affairs, media and politics, the Marriott itself is a family resort and is very child friendly, with lots of interesting things to do both indoors and outdoors, including indoor/outdoor pools, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Please note that children need to be included in the number of attendees and additional charges will apply.

What if I am coming from outside Ontario?

If you plan on flying to this event, we suggest booking a flight that lands at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport (YYZ) or Toronto’s City Centre Airport (YTZ) no later than 2 pm on Friday, February 24, 2012 and leaves no earlier than 4 pm on Sunday, February 26, 2012.  The easiest way to get to the resort will be by renting a car at the airport and driving to Muskoka, which is approximately 3 hours from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, and another 30 minutes from the City Centre Airport.

Can I park my car at the resort?

Yes, outdoor self parking is free at the resort.  Valet service is available at $25 per night outdoors and indoors at $30 per night and is not included in your package rate.

Are there other ways to get to Muskoka besides driving?

Yes, you can take a bus or train to Gravenhurst or Bracebridge (the two closest communities to the resort) and you will then need to take a taxi from the station to the resort.  The taxi fare alone, however, can easily be a $100 or more.  We recommend renting a car for the weekend if you prefer not to take your own vehicle. However, if you don't want to drive at all, more information on bus and train options can be found at www.ontarionorthland.ca.

Limousine service is also available for private hire and services can be found online.

I like politics but my significant other doesn't.  Should we still come?

Absolutely!  If you love politics but your spouse or partner would rather do something else, you will both have a wonderful time.  The JW Marriott The Rosseau Muskoka Resort and Spa is a beautiful destination getaway that draws tourists of all sorts, during all seasons. While you are participating in lively discussions and activities with your favorite Sun News personality, your spouse or partner can relax at the resort spa, enjoy outdoor activities like hiking or skating, read by the fireplace or take advantage of in-room movies and entertainment.  We are willing to guess, however, that when they see how much fun you are having, they won't be able to resist joining in!

What happens if I need to cancel my reservation?

If something comes up or you need cancel, you may do so with no penalty up to two weeks before the event.  Because we are committing to a certain allotment of rooms with the resort, cancellations received after the two-week window will be subject to an administration fee of $250.00 per person.

Tipping

Service is included for all group functions.  Personal expenses, such as bar, bell or room attendants may be tipped as service is rendered.
